Eric S. Raymond (også kjent som ESR), født 4. desember 1957, er forfatteren av «The Cathedral and the Bazar» og dagens vedlikeholder av Jargon File (også kjent som «The new hacker's dictionary»)
Bidrag
Eric S. Raymond bidro i 1982 med sitt første bidrag til fri programvare. Han er vedlikeholder av fetchmail, en POP- og IMAP-klient. Han har også bidratt til EMACS og skrevet deler av GNUs ncurses-bibliotek.
Kritikk
Eric S. Raymond har fått mye kritikk og har blitt en forhatt person av mange. Han kaller seg en kjerneutvikler for Linux-kjernen på tross av at han ikke har skrevet noe av det som er i kjernen, han har blitt kritisert for å være for styrende på the Jargon File, han har blitt kritisert for å holde et foredrag for Microsoft mot store summer og sjanse til å treffe hans favorittskuespiller i «Science fiction».
